About The Artwork

This is a 16" x 16" Limited Edition C-Type Chromogenic Print which is signed and numbered by the Artist. As an Artist, my creative practice focuses on nature, memory, myth and our deep relationship with land and place. My 'Remembered Land' series of C-Types is inspired by nostalgic memories of the beautiful English countryside, its mysterious mood and atmosphere, and the feelings that I recall when experiencing it as a child. This artwork portrays the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire, England, a Place of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which inspired JR Tolkien to write 'The Hobbit' when he viewed it from the top of Pendle Hill. The late Queen Elizabelth II said that she wanted to retire in this beautiful place, In the words of John Ruskin, ‘Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty.’ The C-Type Printing process is quite unique, and created by projecting the image onto Silver crystals on light sensitive paper, resulting in a stunning richness and depth to the final artwork.

British Atelier trained ‘NOA’ Artist Alyson is currently represented by Saul Hay Gallery in Manchester, England, and Artifact Gallery, New York, USA. Alyson studied Fine Art in Manchester, England, graduating with a First-Class Degree in Fine Art and a Master of Arts. Subsequently, Alyson went on to study at the ARC Atelier of Fine Art in Edinburgh Scotland, where she learned the time-honoured drawing and painting methods of the Masters. Alyson's creative practice fuses both art historical and contemporary art theory. Her passion for relearning techniques almost lost in time led to her involvement with historic handmade chemical photographic techniques, including the Platinum, Wet Plate Collodion and Daguerreotype processes – subsequently incorporating these antiquated processes into her creative vision to create atmospheric, contemporary artworks.
