Tourist Vacation #1 - Lanikai is part of a larger series showing photographs of tourist activities at the beaches on Hawai'i. The images were shot with in iPhone 5 contained in a waterproof case using the Hipstamatic Oggl app, and have not been manipulated beyond the orginal Oggl filters with which they were shot. Each image was printed by me in pigment inks on archival, glossy photo paper at 4" square. Each was then mounted to 4" stretched canvases and painted encaustically with several thick coats of unpigmented art beeswax for presentation in tripych format. The work has been buffed by hand to a light shine. Please note, although the imagery is the same, each work in the edition is a monotype, as there are small variations that happen in the hand application of wax. Tourist Vacation #1 - Lanikai was one of 76 works selected for exhibition in the prestigious 36th Annual Commitment to Excellence exhibition. It will be on view at the Main Gallery at the Honolulu Museum of Art from Tuesday, August 12 – Thursday, August 21, 2014. Gallery Hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m and Sunday 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. The gallery is closed on Mondays. Please note: This is anEdition #s 2/3 and 3/3 are available. Edition 1/3 has been sold.
