About the Artist

Martin Wacker

Germany

I’m Martin Wacker — a visual storyteller with a passion for uncovering the rhythm, structure, and poetry of the built environment. My work often explores the intersection of architecture, abstraction, and human presence, seeking to frame the familiar in unfamiliar ways.

Based in Germany, I approach photography with a background in film and TV production and a deep appreciation for symmetry, texture, and visual tension. Whether I’m capturing the swirl of a spiral staircase, the geometric discipline of modern architecture, or fleeting moments of street life, I’m drawn to compositions that challenge perspective and invite curiosity.

Over the years, my images have been recognized by international juries, featured in exhibitions, and published in global photo magazines. But above all, I’m most fulfilled when my photos spark a pause — a moment of visual discovery for the viewer.

It allows our conscious to examine the moments that otherwise we can only experience subliminally, within a flow of reality. At the same time, a photograph explodes onto the viewer’s conscious immediately, unlike a video. While we may examine a photographic image for a period of time, or multiple times, our perception of the photo is still largely driven by that immediate judgment in the first second that we observe the image.
