ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I’ve always been fascinated by placing photographs along side one another to see if their proximity can create a new and different dynamic than that created by an individual image alone. In graduate school I worked with diptychs and triptychs but then veered away from that after post graduate life began. Recently I returned to this format and have been selecting individual images from some of my work and have begun juxtaposing them to create this new series of triptychs. These images, thanks to the tools of PhotoShop, are constructed so that all three of the vertical images are presented on one piece of very high quality digital photo paper, rather than as separate panels.

When I was a child I was surrounded by painters; my mother, great uncle, brother in law and several friends all had a strong influence on me from both their talent and their dedication to artmaking. I learned to develop black and white film and make contact prints when I was about 8 or 9 years old, and as I grew up I continued to gravitate to photography. Part of my motivation is to try and provide non traditional photographs which may provide a bit of a challenge and surprise for the viewer.
