About The Artwork

I have always had a fascination with light play and modern light fixtures provide the ideal playground to explore the macro movements and explosion of light waves on glass surfaces. A close up of this scenario created a magical moment of the burst of energy and dance of light waves across the surface. It was a mesmerizing moment to capture.

Her signature style is to delve deep into her subjects and draw out surreal yet intricate abstractions from a fusion of colours, shapes, contours, textures, materials and nature. With an interplay of light and shadows there is underlying movement and flow in her work that channelizes bursts of energy towards a sense of peace and tranquility. Her primary body of work transforms mundane objects with a strong element of intrigue to challenge first impressions. An alumnus from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Sarika’s background in Microbiology and Biotechnology research followed by her work as a journalist and then as an entrepreneur and consultant in Healthcare and Life Sciences for over 25 years, has strongly influenced her love for macro photography with an inherent ability to visualize objects internally, up-close with an eye for detail and multi-layers.
