Photography: Digital, photography, prints on Aluminium.
This piece is created from an original photograph, taken from the top of the new Tate Modern building in London. I digitally manipulate the image to trace the outlines and the landscape before colouring it. It is then printed on a very thin piece of brushed aluminium.
Printing on this material brings out the outlines and shapes of the London landmarks, which create the personality of the city. St Paul's, the Cheesegrater, the Gherkin all feature in the skyline with the Tate Modern's chimney taking centre stage.
Using bold, bright pinks and blues this contrasts nicely with the silver of the aluminum. The image is printed directly onto the surface of the aluminium, giving the piece an etched effect - the outlines seem to be raised out of the surface.
The piece comes with an aluminium subframe on the back, making it easy to hang.
View From The Tate is made to order. It can usually be created in around 2 weeks.
