Waiting For My Flight From the Photo Blendo Series. Photo based, manipulated, digital art. Exploring Symmetry, Synthesis and Serendipity. I love making photographs at airports. There’s usually interesting architecture, and it’s a great people watch with the full range of human energy and emotion on display. I’ve been known to actually enjoy a flight delay! This abstract image began as a photograph of the ceiling of a departure area at San Francisco International Airport. The Photo Blendo Series was born out of frustration and disappointment. I thought I had made some great images of the wonderful and wacky Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, designed by architect Frank Gehry. When I got home and looked them over, what I thought would be something like "Concerto for Creativity," turned out to be more like "Strike Up the Bland." Having nothing to lose, I fell into a creative, exploratory space, fed by the god, Photoshop (praise be unto undo). Blundering along, through trial and error, I worked out the series of steps that is the essence of the Photo Blendo process.
