Keith Smith is an exhibiting artist, a published poet and author, and a distinguished lecturer. His artwork has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC, The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio, the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, and the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey. He has artworks in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Crocker Art Museum; The California State Museum in Sacramento, California; the Long Beach Museum of Art in Long Beach, CA; McClatchy Publishing, Inc. in Sacramento, CA; Deloitt and Touche Corporation C.E.O. P. Loconto Austin, Texas; Marin General Hospital Mill Valley, California; Kean University of New Jersey and Hudson County Community College Jersey City, New Jersey. Smith was recently invited to participate in the inaugural exhibition at Kean University's Burger Gallery. The exhibition was titled Six New Jersey Masters. Smith is the author and illustrator of Mourning Sickness a book about coping with the loss of a loved one and the journey one travels through grief on the path to healing. His paintings, drawings, and essays have appeared in: Choices In Healing, by Michael Learner M.I.T. Press, Wounded Healers, by Naomi Remen M.D., Commonweal Press, Animals As Teachers and Healers, by Susan McElroy, Ballentine, and most recently Creative Healing, by Mike Samuels M.D. and Mary R. Lane, Harper. Smith's work may also be found on the World Wide Web as a columnist for WEBMD he created a six part series on Caregiving. Keith Smith has earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the California College of the Arts. Professor Smith is the recipient of a Ford Foundation Fellowship Grant, a National Merit Award winner in Experimental Media from the American Film Institute and Sony Corporation, and twice a Gold Medalist in Painting and Drawing at the California State Exposition.
