About the Artist

Russ Martin

United States

Russ Martin is a fine art photographer known for his meticulous and creative depictions of the natural world. Originally from Clinton, New York, he’s a second-generation photographer whose early interest in the craft was sparked by his father, a professional photographer. He holds an MFA in Photography from the State University of New York and has a background steeped in traditional techniques, having trained in the style of Ansel Adams with large-format film cameras and darkroom processes. Over time, he transitioned to digital photography, using professional digital cameras and archival pigment inks to produce high-quality prints on fine art paper. His work often explores both natural landscapes and urban subjects, aiming to reveal unexpected perspectives that inspire viewers. His compositions have been widely recognized, earning awards like first place in the Nature category at the Prix de la Photographie in Paris and features in publications such as Black and White Magazine, Silvershotz, and LensWork. He resides in the Hudson Valley of New York with his wife, Marcia Schulman Martin, who is also a fine art photographer.
