About The Artwork
Limited editions of 70x90cm are printed on Hahnemühle FineArt Photo Rag paper 308 g/m2, and are delivered with author certificate. Each artwork is provided with an extra 2cm white border on all four sides to facilitate framing. After many tests, I carefully selected this paper, the texture gives the image an almost "sculptoric" quality, adding to the sensation of endlessness and borderlessness beneath the waves, and giving the image a more realistic feel. The intrusion of the woman diving into the depth of the sea is the center focus of the image. The colors define each body and each different surface. How will our perception and experience of the world around us change over time? The sea is portrayed as a wounded body, vulnerable yet large and powerful, while the human body is depicted as a Sibyl diving into the water. I hope to make people appreciate the proportional difference between our human kind and the natural world. Our environment is a large ecosystem with which we should learn to connect and live with it more harmonically. Prints in smaller sizes are available directly through Saatchi in open editions. Beatriz Minguez is a Spanish visual artist. Beatriz’s passion is the sea - it’s in the family - and spends 2 months every year living and working on a boat ever since her childhood. Water, Sea, Energy, Time and Space are the keywords of her artistic research She started taking pictures in an obsessive manner since she was 11 years old and was then gifted with her first camera. Her vision researches on the representation of the underlying energy found in natural landscapes, spaces, and people within them. She likes to portray the sea as a living being. Lately also looking for ways to represent the surreal feelings of the recent heat waves during the last summers. Beatriz did 12 years of classical ballet, explaining her passion for photographing herself dancing underwater, where there is no gravity. Her video art pieces and multimedia installations have been awarded many times in international film festivals, and she has recently been commissioned two public artworks.
