Beatriz Minguez is a Spanish visual artist.
Her passion is the sea - it’s in the family - and spends 2 months every year on a boat since childhood.
Ever since her parents gave her first camera at the age of 11, she has been obsessively photographing the sea.
Trained as an architect. She has collaborated with Rem Koolhaas/OMA, and Benedetta Tagliabue/EMBT.
At her artistic work she researches on the representation of the underlying energy found in natural landscapes, spaces, and people within them. She intends to portray the sea as a living being.
And lately also looking for ways to represent the surreal feelings of the recent heat waves during the last summers.
She uses architectural representational language that contrasts and enhances the organic.
Beatriz did 12 years of classical ballet, explaining her passion for photographing herself dancing underwater.
In her work she blends it all.
Her video art pieces and multimedia installations have been awarded in international film festivals, and she has recently been commissioned two public artworks. She also participates regularly in Art Fairs, Exhibitions and Festivals.
For special print sizes and commissions please contact curator@saatchiart.com. She will be happy to assist.
