It's so hard to be in a place like Lake Toya without starting to think about Michael Kenna and his work here. The challenge in this calm and freezing morning was to try and find a different angle in portraying these wooden sticks against the mountains. I believe the foreground snow helps in creating an atmosphere slightly different from the standard "Kenna shot". The original is printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Satin 310 gsm 100% Cotton white satin-finish paper and manually signed at the bottom.
