"Zoo Palace" from Surreal Fashion, by Chema Rivas No. 1 of a limited edition of 2, personally signed and certified. Zoo Palace: Signed by hand by the author, in the back. "Lens Culture / Berkeley, CA (EEUU): "Venetian gulls": "... Hi Chema – thank you for showing this work and, of course, thank you for creating it. Your question is about whether the work is interesting as a work of art. Yes, it is. I am obligated to say much about why this is a work of art, so I will speak first about visual syntax. In the visual language, the photograph uses a linguistic element (the idea of the gulls) to make a narrative that coincides with the subject. The gulls tell us about the flat space of the painting on the wall, the reflection of the glass, the isolation of the gulls, the juxtaposition of the gulls, the contrast of the gulls, the contrast of the painting, the vantage point of the photographer and the space in the room, outside the walls and the camera control. Photography is a generous medium. The actual subject of this work is Photography, but the literal subject is the list of things that we make when we look at this photograph. I think the confusion of spaces and how they are represented by the lens, and then separated into visual planes, is the subject of this photograph. In this way, the photograph is very successful and there is a complete unity of literal and actual subjects. The linguistic and aesthetic subjects support each other. I enjoy this photograph very much. Keep up the good work! Diasec: original limited edition print on Fine Art photo paper behind plexiglass. The plexiglass gives the image remarkable depth and brilliance. For extra stability it has an aluminum Dibond base and it comes with an aluminum frame for direct wall mount. "The Best Modern and Contemporary Artists 2018" / Dtr. Salvatore Russo / Rome 2018. Pure visual poetry. The shots of Chema Rivas are melodic poems that lead us into to new paradises of Eden. Paradises in which to abandon the disconformity of the psyche and let yourself be "lullet" by the beauty represented. Chema expresses all this through photographic art. New universes make their appearance. New syllogisms of the mind to be recreate. The visual representations of Rivas have the same evocative force as the forgiveness of God. They are, therefore, works destined to remain in history. Masterpieces that make us explore the burning Styx of Charon and then take us to those gardens of Eden, located in the heavenly paradise. Works that cross the boundaries of the known to arrive in those places still to be discovered. In those places where eternal beauty dominates. The observer, in seeing his works, remains seduced by the remarkable analysis with which Chema visually argues his choices.
