My name is Theresa Niemann, I'm 36 years old and I live in Germany. For over 10 years I have been intensively involved in photographing abandoned places around the world. My focus has developed from purely documenting the places to the desire and finally the implementation of conveying the atmosphere of the place to the viewer through my photography and the way I edit it, as well as triggering the feeling of going on this journey through time with me to immerse yourself in the picture and feel the splendor of bygone times. The aim of my work is to capture what remains, to depict the mystical beauty of the legacies of human creativity in the process of dissolution and to convert this photographically into an artistic work. These are unique motifs that arise when nature reclaims its space in dilapidated villas, hospitals and churches. I try to create this not just as pure photography, but as a multidimensional experience in which I create depth and work out light, shadow and color - without it appearing unnatural or exaggerated.
