ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Jerry Burchard had fun as an instructor at the SFAI. Road trips to Muir Beach, over to Golden Gate Park or a gaggle of models in the courtyard. He let us photography students loose but we were soon joined by painters and sculptors, then PG&E men and the mailman. This soft arm is dotted by water drops from the courtyard fountain. It, as all my prints, are originally from a negative. This a Hasselblad 1000f using PlusX. My negatives are scanned and then spotted and dodged and burned in Photoshop before being printed on the finest art paper using archival inks.

I am a film photographer. I studied fine art photography at the San Francisco Art Institute but was seduced by the money to be made as a social event photographer and so turned away from personal photography. As I approach my later years I am returning to that which made me first pick up a camera as a form of self expression.
