Art Description

Photography: Color, Digital, Metal on Aluminium, Paper.

One of my favourites in my Éveil series!
Photographs do not capture the modern aesthetics of these works once produced on the high-end substrates I use for the creation of my photographic artwork. They literally transform once they are printed with metallics and mounted to aluminum.

The composition Éveil Forest, subtly depicts the female form collaged with an evergreen forest (photographed on the Olympic Peninsula in the state of Washington). This artwork speaks to our interconnection with the environment; a reflective introspection of my own relationship with nature.

I love the subjective qualities of this composition, and I would be confident stating that this artwork is sure to inspire curiosity with tasteful elegance celebrating the beauty of nature and femininity.

My production process consists of printing the composition onto archival metallic paper and dry mounting the print to 0.08 gauge aluminum. A UV lustre laminate is applied to the face of the artwork, which provides protection from UV exposure, as well as eliminates any glare; rendering a beautiful sheen.

The reverse of the piece is fitted with a custom aluminum bracket installation system; which simplifies hanging the artwork and creates a gorgeous, floating aesthetic once installed on your wall.

Éveil Narrative:

In French, Éveil refers to awakening — the transformation of consciousness that ignites a desire for change.
The Éveil Collection is a photographic series inspired by the artist’s involvement in environmental conservation. The intent is to connect viewers with their own kinship for the natural world. The compositions present a unique allegory—an internal rhythm that embodies our relationship with the beauty found in nature, contrasted with the realization of human consumption and the impact we have on the planet. The human form is isolated by layering contours with images of both elements and urban environments. Pairing masculine and feminine form with industrialism and nature, Éveil brings awareness to a generation where society is becoming ever-more detached from the natural world and consistently more reliant on disposable technology.
