Lisbon 231-233 Monotype 21x26 Uneven borders Signed 2024 Uneven borders on Bristol In this monotype, the structured beauty of Lisbon's tiles, Azulejos, interacts with the more fluid, unpredictable medium of montoype image transfer. Azulejos: Although not a style of architecture per se, azulejos (ceramic tiles) are a distinctive feature in Lisbon's buildings. These often hand-painted tiles decorate the exteriors and interiors of both secular and religious buildings, adding vibrant colors and patterns. I love the juxtaposition of order and chaos. Perhaps it is a metaphor for my life This artwork highlights the architectural details and urban fabric of the area, portrayed through a sophisticated color palette that reflects the elegance, disrepair, and historical richness of the city. The uneven edges and the monotype technique itself emphasize the singular, one-of-a-kind nature of each print.
