I'm an abstract expressionist painter born in New York City in 1953. I've worked as a professional artist since 1998, largely creating original abstract expressionist and figurative expressionist paintings. My classic abstract expressionist paintings are derivative of influences from the New York School art movement, as I create from the perspective of a "third tier" artist, in this historical tradition. Additionally, I paint figurative expressionism, which includes additional influences from the CoBrA art movement. When overlaid with personal social and political commentary, in a narrative, satirical idiom, I define the resulting style as "Afro Expressionism", my own, unique movement, resulting from a compiliation of forces listed above.REPRESENTED BY:AGORA GALLERYChelsea,530 W 25th St,New York, NY l0002Angela Di Bello, Directorwww.Agora-Gallery.com www.Art-Mine.comAngela@Agora-Gallery.comPhone: 212.226.4151 Fax: 212.966.4380EUROPEAN REPRESENTATIVE:JMA GALLERYHalbgasse 32 /Neustiftgasse 123A- 1070 Vienna, AustriaJackie Mauersberger-Arce www.jmagallery.comTel./Fax: +43 1 522 10 09E-mail: office@jmagallery.comMobile: +43 (0) 6991 2242496Reg.ZI: 101033G09TREVISAN INTERNATIONAL ARTFerrara, Italywww.trevisanarte.comPaola TrevisanIn 2007, I began exhibiting my own work, which is derivative of influences from the New York School and CoBrA art movements. I overlay techniques culled from the two schools with nuances and inferences as diverse as Japanese calligraphy to the tribal art of the Dogon. I utilize this idiom to create works that may serve as social commentaries, influenced largely by daily global current events. Others are more subliminal in their inception, uncovering the subtle workings of the psyche in an ongoing series, aimed at exploring and assisting in the emerging transformation in human consciousness. My current inspiration is the work of author Eckhardt Tolle, in his philosophical theory of this phenomenon.
