My prints are created using printmaking ink on hand-made paper. These are not machine prints of my art, they are all original works of art. Printmaker / Painter / Photographer / Public Art Lover / Assemblage Artist Art has always been at the heart of how I experience the world. I was handed a Nikon when I was four years old, and with a father who worked as an Associated Press photographer and eventually editor of the Asia Bureau for AP, cameras were always part of our lives. That early exposure taught me to pay close attention—a habit that still shapes everything I create. I started out as a ceramicist and painter in college, drawn to the physicality of clay and the expressive freedom of paint. I earned my degree in Art with an emphasis in Printmaking from San Francisco State University, and later spent a summer in Tokyo seeking out printmaking studios and galleries. That time immersed in the techniques and creative energy of Japanese printmakers had a lasting impact. Recently, I’ve returned to painting—working with acrylic on canvas to explore new ways of storytelling through color, form, and emotion. I’ve lived all over the U.S. and in Japan, including my final year of high school. Those varied places—and the people, landscapes, and cultures within them—continue to inspire my work. I’ve completed nine artist residencies, most of them in National Parks, where the natural world becomes both studio and subject. One of those residencies brought me to Trinidad, Colorado, after my husband died suddenly in 2018. What was meant to be a temporary stay turned into something more lasting. The community, the wide skies, and the creative space I found here helped me rebuild through making. Along the way, I’ve worn a lot of hats—museum director and curator, art program director at a summer camp, executive director of an ArtCar museum, parade impresario, teaching artist, and gallery owner. I've led workshops for kids and adults in parks, community centers, schools, and studios, always with the goal of helping people connect to their creative fire. I often depict animals in playful, anthropomorphic settings—not to make them seem more human, but to reflect the dignity, humor, and emotion we all share. Whether I’m carving a block, painting a canvas, or assembling found objects, I’m interested in honoring the spirit within all things and celebrating the everyday magic of being alive.
