I started with this work when thinking of being under water. Having this in mind I wish the viewer to experience a feeling of being surrounded by matter that could be water but also could be anything that comes and goes like air bubbles or the flow of water passing by.

My works are inspired by a very personal perception of situations. I create live sized figures in monochrome colours to reduce myself to what counts and what is necessary. The line is the most important carrier of information and I use my cutting tools for the woodcuts the same way I would use a pencil. When talking about the practical background I stress that I am inspired by sculpturing and I compare woodcut the way I do it as THE printing technique which is closest to three-dimensional art. The subject matter starts from the idea of a knot, where two parts can be combined to a construct in endless ways. The area of the wood for that reason is mostly constant - I also reduce myself in this sense to a defined unit.
