ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This richly detailed limited edition print of Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day wearing the purple and ermine Imperial State Crown is hand-finished with gold paint and diamond dust on the crown and earrings. She looks out at us almost like a religious icon, yet has a modern pop-art touch in the royal blue squares which echo her eyes and her sapphire jewellery. Her white face harks back to Elizabeth I, and the overall effect recalls Klimt. I want this to be the portrait by which this great monarch is remembered. The print was made at an award-winning printmakers and is on Somerset Velvet Enhanced 330 gms paper with torn edges. Five of the ten limited editions have already been sold to amateur collectors

I am French, born in Lille. My career was in television, and when I met my British wife, I moved to London where I have been living for 25 years where I started my own production company, specialising in documentaries about the Royal Family. I produced 11 films which sold all over the world. I am particularly interested in the Queen; her face is the most well-known female face in the world and yet she is so inscrutable. I started to paint her eight years ago. I use acrylic as I like the vibrancy of the colour, and one of my main influences is Andy Warhol who I met in the 1970s.
