About The Artwork

This is a limited edition print of my original neon artwork of the same name. The print is a 2020 release (the original neon was a late 2019 release) Edition of just 20 in the black colour background (there are also 20 in a gold colour background - reflecting that I did the original neon sculpture in two colours too). Please note, this is a print and does not light up (the original neon sculpture does but not the print) 69cm x 58.5cm cm inc 3cm border all way around All text is my own. The glass on the original neon piece was also bent by me. (nb the print is an image of the original sculpture). Prints are 2d images on paper which do not light up.

"Rebecca's work is an extraordinary mix of truth and beauty; she is able to engage her audience with brutal observations about life, love, money and culture with her simple, honest and often humorous interpretation of the modern world" (Laura Lea, curator) Rebecca Mason, often working under the pseudonym "Rococo Wonderland", is an artist using light to convey the darkness within human life, existence and emotion. This is often accompanied by a dry, self-deprecating sense of humour and candid confessions aimed at recognising and accepting our imperfections. Neon, with its seedy connotations and consumerist lure, is the brush she uses to create a gritty and simultaneously delicate world. Her inspiration is drawn from the exciting, chaotic playground of the city in which she lives. The living metropolis of London, with all its fears, questions and realisations emerge in her work via a duplicity of textual phrases and fragile luminosity. The aim is to encourage the viewer to engage, share her world and illuminations as well as identify a little of themselves and their own experiences in the work. The premise for each piece of work usually begins by referencing a feeling or event in her personal life, a micro moment in her existence which is then broadened to reflect the theme on a macro, collective, basis.
