Like the bird that has forgotten it can fly, we diminish ourselves when we forget that we have the ability to attain whatever goal we can imagine. But we usually don’t realize that the material accumulations someone else has is not truly what we want. What we truly want is simply to be happy. And we assume that if we have the stuff the other person has we will be. But it is only when we pursue our own nature – our personal dreams and callings (which may or may not include any physical stuff) – will we then be living a life that will be worth envying.

About the Artist Award-winning oil painter Paul Bond was born in 1964 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California and Costa Rica. Paul Bond's art lives in the spaces between dreaming and reality. Drawing from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, his paintings merge symbolic, surreal and fantastic elements with realistic atmospheres to unveil a world where everything is possible. At times, they simply express a whimsical aspect of life. Yet most works also carry deeper metaphysical and philosophical messages illuminating the world of our dreams and subconscious thoughts, fears and hopes. Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in galleries, museums and cultural centers, including The Gateway Museum and The San Diego Art Institute. His paintings are now in private collections throughout the US, and worldwide. Corporate collections include Fox, Warner Bros and NBC Studios, Royal Caribbean International, Marriott Hotels, Scripps and Stanford Hospitals; and his works are featured in numerous contemporary art publications.
