Printmaking: Oil, Ink, Paper, Monotype, Environmental on Paper.
This work is part of a series of monotypes (unique images created one after another) that focus on transience and fragility, created with etching inks on the lightest rice paper. The handmade Japanese paper is almost transparent and the colors lie on the surface creating depth and distance.
My work is about memory, about time passing. Remembering often comes upon us suddenly, triggered by a sound or a scent. This image, and the series, push the urge to remember, to save from forgetting, those incidents which build our emotional landscape.
