Lili Marlene - Limited Edition of 50 Print

During the endless hours, days and weeks of lockdown here in Spain, I found it difficult not to be introspective and while too much introspection can be a dangerous thing, I enjoyed re-discovering some of the obsessions of my younger self which led to making a monotype of the legendary Marlene Dietrich. A glamorous fashion icon, known for her androgynous film roles and bisexuality, could anyone be more inspiring to a teenager coming to terms with being just a little bit different from everyone else, and who better to have as lockdown company. Now in the print studio in Birmingham I have re-worked the image and made it into a silkscreen print as part of the series ‘All Dolled Up With Nowhere To Go’. Here is ‘Lilli Marlene’.
