BIOGRAPHY Ms. Dania Sierra was born in Havana Cuba and exiled to the United States with her family in 1962. Ms. Sierra's inclination for art began at a very young age and she was encouraged to pursue a formal education in Art and Art History. She was the recipient of a Fine Arts scholarship to the University of Miami and continued her studies at Barry College. Ms. Sierra also became a successful entrepreneur in the graphic arts industry in her early 20's. She expanded her knowledge in this field at Florida Career Institute where she obtained a degree in Commercial Art. Her accomplishments in the graphic arts world earned her a respectable commission in 1989 from Carnival Cruise Lines to create a kinetic sculpture for their flagship hotel, the Crystal Palace Hotel and Casino in Nassau, Bahamas. By the 1990's, Ms. Sierra's work had been featured in several galleries throughout the United States including the Latin American Art Museum in Miami, Florida. Today, her works are part of private collections in the Caribbean; Central and South America; Mexico; Eastern and Western Europe; Canada; and, the United States. Ms. Sierra is a philanthropist who dedicates her time and contributes her artwork to numerous local and national non-profit associations. She was recently selected by the renowned publishing house, Hought Mifflin, to include her celebrated folkloric painting, "Guajiro Verde", in one of their upcoming Spanish textbooks. Also during the present year, The Business Journal for Hispanic Research selected several of her pieces for their premiere issue published in June of 2007. Ms. Sierra has an uncanny ability to establish a dialogue with each individual observing her artwork. Her intuitive expressionism awakens emotions within the beholder of the nurturing love, pain, freedom, immortality and hope that lie within us. Through her work, Dania allows the viewer into her own private realm, into her soul, leaving us with a deep sense of intimacy with the painter and one self. Ms. Sierra's brilliant execution of color and design has earned her the respect and admiration of collectors and colleagues. Her artwork portrays the artist's quiet, gentle nature by silently enticing us with a colorful embrace that impales our subconscious repeatedly.
