Tranquil and atmospheric etching of this stunning stretch of English coastline. This landscape print, of the view from Lyme Regis, depicts the Jurassic Coast stretching into the distance, evokes a feeling of peaceful spaciousness. A 'Variable Edition' of a limited edition of just three prints from this etching plate. To create this etching I have used a zinc plate, aquatint (melting resin dust onto the plate with a flame, to allow the ink to 'grip'), litho crayon, acid and burnishing. Then professional etching ink is smeared onto the plate and selectively removed. The image is created by placing the inked plate onto the bed of an etching press, with a sheet of damp 'Somerset' heavy weight, white paper, laid on top. The press is then 'hand wound', pressing the plate and paper together, transferring the image from plate to paper. Image/plate size 28 x 22.5cm Paper size 32 x 28cm Print number 1/3 This etching is signed, dated, titled and numbered beneath the image (see additional photograph). This print will be shipped wrapped in tissue paper in a sturdy cardboard tube, within five working days. A signed Certificate of Authenticity will be provided.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions.
