Multitude is a term for a group of people who cannot be classed under any other distinct category, except for their shared fact of existence. The term has a history of use reaching back to antiquity, but took on a strictly political concept when it was first used by Machiavelli and reiterated by Spinoza. The multitude is a concept of a population that has not entered into a social contract with a sovereign political body, such that individuals retain the capacity for political self-determination. A multitude typically is classified as a quantity exceeding 100. For Hobbes the multitude was a rabble that needed to enact a social contract with a monarch, thus turning them from a multitude into a people.

Nitiksha Dawar (born 1988, Delhi, India) is a renowned printmaking artist whose work delves into the realms of life, transcending subjective boundaries and exploring the profound impacts of global cultural interactions. Through her prints, she weaves narratives that go beyond the surface, touching upon universal themes and evoking a unique poetic resonance. Nature, the ultimate nurturer, forms an integral part of Dawar's artistic expression. Just as nature conserves and sustains the entire universe within its womb, the artist emphasizes the inseparable connection between femininity and the natural world. Her work encompasses more than mere reflections of self and ideas; it serves as a testament to the rare fusion of the feminine and the organic. In doing so, Dawar not only communicates the wealth and power associated with the patrons of art but also sheds light on diverse aspects of our world and humanity through her creative portrayals of people, places, and objects. Her contributions to the field extend beyond commissioned works, as she has also made significant contributions as a freelance artist in various capacities. Dawar's chosen medium is printmaking, with a particular focus on the print etching and aquatint techniques. In a series of works, she seeks to draw attention to Hindu mythology, chakras, and the practice of meditation as a means of connecting with the superconscious. By employing this conceptual approach, she seeks to intensify the dynamic interaction between the audience and the artist, bringing forth emotional objectification and exploring the duality that emerges through diverse interpretations. Currently, Nitiksha Dawar resides and works in Kaladham, Greater Noida, India, where she continues to explore and expand her artistic horizons.
