About The Artwork

The red line drawing at the bottom becomes invisible under the red acetate sheet; the artwork represents a mutual relationship between order and hierarchy; it seems that hierarchy keeps the society in order, but it also collapses the society. Mixed media (a screen printed paper and a red acetate sheet) Screen printing on a 100% cotton fine art paper. Edition: 30 + 4ap. Signed dated and numbered.

Tetsuya moved to the US in 2002 after working as a graphic designer in Tokyo. Having experienced working as an artist assistant and freelance designer, he again moved to UK in 2006. After obtaining MA in Visual Arts, he worked on numerous projects both in art and design field. He moved back in Tokyo in 2013, and continues to create his art there. [ Artist statement ] I explores the boundaries between contradictions such as chaos and order, natural and artificial, construction and destruction, dream and reality. I believe these contradictions are balancing each other somehow by the unknown current, which makes the world as it is. I have been mainly focusing on mixed media painting, but also creates three dimentional works by combining various materials and utilizing both digital and traditional techniques. My art varies from concept driven artworks to more sponteneous paintings, drawing inspirations from various sources such as geometry, art history and Pop culture.
