ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a monotype, a unique print (1/1) on white paper. These prints are created by a reductive method: the ink is spread by various means (cardboard, plastic cards etc.) across the surface of a metal plate, and then removed to form an image; this is then transferred to paper by means of a press. To make this more challenging, I often use more than one plate; this allows for more complex image. I am interested in what lies behind the surface of an image, what a face can tell us beyond the superficial.
