About The Artwork

Archival inkjet on 300gsm Somerset Cotton paper, limited edition (70), artist stamp, signed in pencil, 35 x 59.4cm (unframed) A Whakatauki (proverb) attributed to Sir Apirana Ngata which acknowledges the gifts that are passed down to us from our ancestors, encouraging us to wear them proudly, with humility. The artwork features a Huia tail feather, traditionally worn by high-ranking Maori Chiefs. The Huia was a native New Zealand bird which has been extinct since the early 20th Century.
