Red Valentine #2 - Limited Edition of 1 Print

I have, in various shapes and forms, made Valentines since I was a child, and throughout my art career, I have continued to create them, with intervals of increased activity. These works posted on Saatchi are mixed media woodcuts. Initially, I carve the image into pine, ink the block, and hand pull the print onto stonehenge or coventry paper. Rarely do I make any numbered editions. I usually work on each print by hand, using ink by way of a fountain pen, technical pen, brush pen, or a brush, to add contrast, form, and additional texture. I sometimes add watercolor or acrylic. All of this allows me to make each piece an original, and to experiment with variations on my theme. I often cut out the print, and mount the image on a fresh piece of vellum, stonehenge, or coventry. If the piece is remounted, I place my signature on the image itself, and sometimes on the back of the image as well.
