When a new way of thinking presents itself in something you think or read or see or hear, and all of a sudden - for one incredible moment - everything snaps to grid in your mind and heart and body and makes a new kind of perfect sense. And you feel free and light and wise and ready to move forward in a new direction. The “Seeing Beyond Seeing” series is about celebrating those moments of epiphany. I love letting my thoughts turn into color relationships and patterns that serve to remind us of an idea that’s worth remembering. Details About The Piece: - This piece is a one-of-a-kind original pigment print on thick, 100% cotton, acid-free fine art paper. - The work is archival, made with care, and made to last. I’m Jess, an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. My work is about the way that beautiful images can disrupt and change our habitual ways of thinking and looking — and ultimately change us. My work is very intuitive. It’s informed and inspired by color sensation, minimalism, and experiential “light and space” art movements. I work on each image until I feel everything click into place: that feeling of “rightness” tells me the work is done. I work in series — like chapters in a book or verses in a song. Each one feels like it’s part of a whole that’s always growing and surprising me. My hope is that each piece serves as an invitation, a portal, a totem: a way of getting more deeply attuned to who you are and who you can become. I create my work digitally on a touchscreen with my fingers. The digital techniques I've been developing for a few years are a hybrid of painting, screenprinting and collage. I then print the images using pigment ink on thick,100% cotton fine art paper. Each of my prints is an original work, not a reproduction. The completed prints are completely archival. I’m proud to say my work is up on the walls of collectors in New York, L.A., London, Paris and everywhere in between. Hope you enjoy your time here — and please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just want to connect!
