About The Artwork

Like Piet Mondrian, the Bauhaus was also intensively concerned with the primary colors red, yellow and blue. In addition, the triangle, square and circle served as primary forms at the Bauhaus. Wassiliy Kandinsky in particular, who taught at the Bauhaus between 1922 and 1933, was concerned with the properties and interpretation of colors ... and their assignment to primary forms. According to him, yellow was assigned to the triangle, red to the square and blue to the angular circle. Together, these three symbols are closely associated with the Bauhaus. This artwork combines the triangle as one of the primary shapes with these primary colors and adds another facet: self-similarity. The equilateral triangle already has a kind of inherent self-similarity. All three sides are the same length, all three interior angles are the same (60°), and it has three axes, each passing through one of the three vertices and the triangle's center of gravity. However, another property of the equilateral triangle is central to this work: if two equilateral triangles with the same orientation are superimposed, the intersection automatically forms another equilateral triangle. Some of these intersections were colored in the three primary colors and black. The artwork is available as fine art print (paper format 50 x 50 cm, print format 40 x 40 cm) on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308g/m2 in a Limited Edition of 25 pieces (Hahnenmühle Certificate of Authenticity) and will be signed by the artist.

"Be a versatile workhorse, not a one-trick pony!" Living and working in Langen (Hessen), close to Frankfurt/M. (Germany), I was born and spent my childhood and youth in Bamberg (Bavaria). If you are aware of this medieval town you will definitely agree that this 'Franconian Rome' and World Heritage is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Germany.
