About The Artwork

This signed, limited-edition print (11/50) is a giclée reproduction on archival paper of an acrylic painting that I created to honor Albert Hofmann, the world-renowned pharmacologist who created LSD. I depicted him as a contemporary manifestation of the thousand-eyed Avalokiteśvara, the Buddhist archetype of universal consciousness and loving compassion because of his role in raising consciousness. Surrounding Hofmann are a collection of classic images, representing the many thousands of visions that have been induced by LSD.

Timothy White is a self-taught artist who specializes in depicting shamanic and entheogenic themes in a magical realism style. Born and raised in India, he has lived in California and Oregon for the last forty years, where he founded and edited a small magazine, "Shaman's Drum," which documented shamanic traditions around the world. He began painting illustrations for the magazine, and he launched a career in painting after retiring.
