Sindonica I, Limited Fine Art Print Print

This intaglio fine art print, titled Sindonica I, weaves a narrative that stretches back in time. Originating from a flattened sardine tin found on the roads of the "Mar de Castiglia" (Sea of Castilla) amidst the pine expanse above Segovia (Spain), it found its way into the hands of Fernando Texidor, a Spanish abstract artist and sculptor. Fernando, a mentor, and dear friend, closed his eyes for the last time this year. Upon returning to his studio this summer to organise his creations, I discovered this objet-trouvé. Scattering Fernando's ashes on the surface of the sea in Nerja (Spain), I brought not only the object but also the lesson on chaos and impermanence that he imparted, now embodied in Sindonica I. On wet cotton Hahnemühle paper, the corrugated metal imprinted ink in peaks and valleys across five copies, symbolising the months since Fernando's farewell. Art becomes a bridge, perpetuating memories, friendship and a shared passion for the abstract.
