ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Where words sometimes miss, color and shape complete that for me. I play with it as a writer plays with phrases and a cook with ingredients. This portrait exactly voice the feelings where words couldn't be found. I always try to create a perfect composition and balance, without getting a boring creation. It is a beautiful and sometimes complicated process. This artwork is printed on Fine Art Hahnemhule Paper and glued on Dibond. It has nog decorated frame, but an invisible installation on the back to hang on the wall (see photo). No decorated frame is needed. But you can still purchase this yourself if you prefer.

“Where words are sometimes lacking, color and shapes fill that in for me. I play with it like a writer plays with sentences, or a cook with ingredients”. My work is a constant search for balance. I need structure, but I'm terrified of boring. To find a way around this I try to simplify the complexity of life through my art. What do I need now? What is superfluous? It is a constant game of adding & subtracting, of controlling & letting go. The framed shapes give me structure and tranquility. The colors create tension. This is how I try to create the perfect balance. It is a beautiful and sometimes complicated process. As a child I was already attracted by the dynamics of colors and planes. It is therefore not surprising that I attended the University of the Arts in Utrecht and graduated here in 1996. After that I started working as a fashion designer, stylist, designer and trend watcher. In all these disciplines I was also constantly working on color, form and composition. The love for this is simply in my DNA. Nowadays I work full time as an artist
