About The Artwork

Tokyo Downtown Beauty: "Shitamachi no Bijin". Far from the crowded and trendy places of the big city there is another Tokyo. There, one may mess with his feet, have a smoke, and still remain gracious and elegant. Homemade silk screen on Japanese paper "shinbafun". 2018. Limited edition: 20. Numbered, dated, signed and stamped (seal). The original art is drawn by hand with ink on a fine paper that is later oiled to create the stencil. The screen is burnt under the natural light of the sun. The printing occurs one time only with a very limited number of prints (5 to 20). The original hand drawing is then destroyed. All the prints have their own micro differences that make them unique.

I am a self-taught artist, author, and illustrator born in the French Alps, and living in Japan. I create both black and white silk screen prints, ink illustrations, and oil pastels artworks. I like to make art pieces that can greatly decorate a home or any room, and create a special atmosphere as I particularly focus on decorative art. For oil pastels I use mainly the very colourful and creamy Sennelier oil pastels and thick Shinbafun Japanese paper. All the artworks are specially varnish with a protective coat. I create my own homemade silk screen prints without the help of any machine or computer (nothing is digitally drawn or retouched). The original art is drawn by hand with ink on a fine paper that is later oiled to create the stencil. The screen is burnt under the natural light of the sun. The printing occurs one time only with a very limited number of prints (5 to 20). The original hand drawing is then destroyed. I use Japanese "washi" or "Shinbafun" paper. All the prints have their own micro differences that make them unique.
