I made a large body of work inspired by the song "Umi says" by Mos Def. In the lyrics he sings about the trials and tribulations of finding himself as a man in the face of societal challenges, yet never looses sights of his roots and guiding life force: his Umi (grandmother). In this edition, I tried to capture ways that I find myself reaching for a better version of myself. The inner struggle to be happy within myself, accept myself but also continue to grow. This is an edition of 30 prints. There are only 8 left The work itself was made in collaboration with the printmaking studio of Mark Silverberg in Thailand. This was my second ever lithograph.
