In my ongoing Soviet’s Fingerprints project, “Winter apples” is one of the pieces from “Overload” series.

Overload old Soviet cars is one of the common cultural attitudes in post-Soviet countries. These old, tired cars with overload capitalistic profit dreams could interpret as a bridge in-between happened socialism and understanding of new arrived capitalism. They show the end of the old economic system. They are the symbol of political system change.

I mainly inspired from physical and sentimental aspect of material culture: usage, consumption, as well as the behaviors, norms, and rituals that the old Soviet cars take part in.

I like to keep simplistic, intense, solid, and dynamic expressions. Depicting both urban and rural scenes and close-ups on cars with graphical perspective.
