In her work, Cristiana Ilie explores and utilises experimental printmaking, photography, moving image, mixed media techniques in order to express philosophical concepts in visually colourful and abstract ways. Influenced by the process-driven nature of printmaking and attributes of chance and serendipity inherent in surrealist art and thinking, her works explore human nature, negotiating the contrast between subjective and objective views. When finding a meaningful void of explanatory and specific images, your self can instinctively fill it. From here, the imagery of the artwork can be experienced as existing in itself, or as a representative image which leads to a pataphysical perception, where a lot of imaginary solutions for the unknown start to appear, in order to fill the absurdity of a void. It is a response to a state. It is a continuation of a concept. It is analyzing the philosophical nature of perception, existence and identity in an interactive way on a personal inner level.
