ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Work title: Über den Dächern ("Above the roofs") Signature: Julio Fernandez 2019 Measurements: 33 x 28 x 4 cm Technique: Digital art/Fineartprint Material: Paper Worldwide delivery incl. certificate of authenticity Since I have been working with abstract painting, I have always been fascinated by the seemingly random details of a finished or emerging painting. Initial attempts to transfer such details into larger formats did not satisfy me - I had to change my style and technique too much, so that it had nothing to do with my actual work in the studio. After I let the idea rest for a long time, I began in 2017 to take specific detailed pictures of my works photographically and to digitally reprocess them. In this way I discovered a completely new and fascinating possibility of artistic expression, which has accompanied me parallel to my painting ever since. I leave many of these "macro images" unadulterated, others I work on step by step until the complete reinterpretation of a shot. In this way, numerous independent motifs can be created from a single photograph, each of which telling its own story. As I relate them stylistically more to my experimental work, I sign these works with Julio Fernandez or Raphael König - depending on which works I use as a photographic basis. For the production of my editions, a high-quality printing process on high-quality paper (Sihl Masterclass Textured Matt Cotton 320 g) is used, so that museum quality is a matter of course. While most colour photo papers change their colours under museum conditions after approx. 12-18 years, the predicted durability of the fine art prints I offer under the same conditions is 200 years. This edition comes with a high-quality genuine wooden frame with passe-partout. The use of anti-reflective museum glass, which is 45% UV-resistant and 100% lightfast, gives the work additional protection, which, together with authentication, gives it a value comparable to that of an original artwork. Each fine art print is dated, signed and numbered by me, in addition I sign all framed works additionally on the passepartout. If you would like to receive a specific edition number, please contact me and I will try to make it possible. Otherwise my gallery sends continuously from the stock or randomly. Except for the numbering and the normal deviations in the handwritten notes (signature etc.), the individual pieces are of course identical.

In his works, the artist deals in particular with the impressions of his travels, which lead him together with his wife around the whole world. Focal points are among others landscape abstractions, lost cultures as well as the confrontation with the consequences of human action. The paint serves as a means of expression, which enables him to visualize the processed themes both in one and three dimensions. "The predominantly abstract works of the Dresden artist Andreas Garbe impress the viewer with their sure colour aesthetics, stylistic independence and, last but not least, their craftsmanship.Whether captivating liveliness, almost magical calm or refreshing lightness - Andreas Garbe masters the expressiveness of the colours, lets them shine powerfully from their deepest interior and has thus found the answer to a question that the painter has always had to face. But Andres Garbe is also one of those who are in search, in search of the possibilities of the artistic realization of the experienced and learned. His themes range from history to the present: under the impression of his travels, he brings the mythologies of different cultures to life, tells in his works of impressive experiences of nature or, last but not least, reflects on the eternal and interpersonal. A demanding approach that challenges the intellectual as well as the sensitive viewer and which Andreas Garbe himself faces with great seriousness" Petra Klein, September 2009 In order to allow his artistic expression more scope for freedom and to be able to experiment in a more varied way, Garbe signs certain works with Julio Fernandez or Raphael König.
