About The Artwork

Title: 1st Movement Theres a thrust at play here, that is clear. The abstract art and post-graffiti collision is very evident in this work. There are no clearly discernible letters in the piece and yet through the visual vocabulary graffiti has created we are drawn to perceiving a script running through the piece. My trade mark interference with the plane of the is active here, with peaks and troughs running over the work. I've added two sculptural 'extras' that are embedded with metal rods into either end of the piece. These are a nod to the tradition of street art where 'doo dads' give pieces a vibrating quality. Made of premium birch ply. Painted in acrylic. This piece measures: Height: 16 inches (40.5cm) Width: 41.5 inches (105cm) Depth: 3/4 inch (2cm) A single recessed keyhole slot is installed on the back, so the piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall.

Vince's work flows from his roots as an 80's graffiti artist, where understanding shade, light and movement were learnt during his teenage years. Today his lineage is clear and manifests itself sculpturally in a post-graffiti genre. The signature artworks in his collection are created using the highest quality birch ply and where spray paint was once used to colour a piece now brush and acrylics are manipulated to express the notion of depth, movement and joy. What interests him today is how street art can evolve into an artwork that is Sculptural, three-dimensional, non-rectangular and portable.
