Each piece begins with a spoken phrase -here, “A fleur de peau”(“raw” or “close to the skin”)- that is recorded and translated into a sound wave. About the Artist

Delphine Grandvaux

France

My artistic journey follows a single thread — a thread of steel, copper, or brass. Through a meticulous creative process, I create light, transparent sculptures that offer a delicate and poetic perspective on the world.

The volumes I shape evoke forms drawn from the living world — seeds, membranes, cocoons, or cells — figures that speak of transformation and transition. Each piece represents a sensitive trace of what is woven, unfolding, or connecting.
Other works are directly inspired by the sound waves of words. Using recordings of my own voice, I give physical form to selected words by translating them into suspended, fine, and taut structures — like a line of sound materialized in space. Here, I explore the boundary between language and matter, creating fragile, vibrating works that seem to breathe.

Both raw and refined, wire becomes a sensitive, vibrating material — like a line in motion. Through mesh work, I explore the limits of metal wire, pushing it to an extreme fineness until its rigid nature fades, revealing its poetic flexibility.

Mesh Technique:
Each mesh is created one by one from a single strand of wire. The volume emerges through this repeated gesture, varying the size of the meshes, the choice of metal, and its diameter. The resulting form is held together by the tension between the meshes and the inherent flexibility of the material.
