I have always been fascinated by nature and my imagination has now turned to insects, and a world I have imagined named Katydom where humans are small and insects large. The insects and humans live together peacefully and often work together to till the soil for planting crops, repurpose dung balls and fungi to make homes and schools and compete each year in the celebrated Insect Race. The world of Katydom is where all my sculptures reside and where each has a part to play. I welcome you to Katydom. In my early teens would carve birds, rabbits and snails in cherry and ash wood. Following my apprenticeship as a wood carver I moved south to Sussex with Anne, my girlfriend, now wife, and began my own business at 21 taking commissions to carve large eagles and herons as church lecterns and carving larger-than-life insects for sale. In 1980 Anne and I left England and moved to Los Angeles where I have morphed from being a wood sculptor to furniture maker to designer and maker of door handles and have now returned full circle to creating larger than life insect art. 1999 was the year I entered the casting world and began designing and casting functional art aka door hardware in silicon bronze and stainless steel. While my eclectic door hardware continues to occupy some of my time my imagination has turned back to insects
