The Aesop's Fable of the fox and the crow is a cautionary tale about falling for flattering words. The fox tricks the crow into dropping her piece of cheese when he tells her he would love to hear her sing with her lovely voice. The mirror is there to emphasize the fable's moral: Do not be deceived by flatterers.

My work documents scenes of everyday life, often with a narrative implication. I work in the tradition of the Ashcan Artists, using regional and local inspiration to create images that have a universal message. In addition to fine art, I have an extensive portfolio of public art projects, including murals and mosaics for nine public libraries.
