About The Artwork

Works during lockdown. I’ve been working on a tale of fairies with African folklore. One interesting part I stumbled on is the ”yumboes” - they are fairies from the folklore of the Wolof people in Senegal, West Africa, on the coast near Goree Island. Yumboes are two feet tall and colored silvery white from head to toe. They are believed to be the spirits of the dead, and attach themselves closely to human families. mostly they being good tidings and protection. This particular piece is from a series I’m working on.
