Alhambra Palace Nasrid Palace Shield Sculpture

An astounding display of a single carved panel of solid stucco, expressing a wide variety of intricate characteristics. This shield in particular is used throughout The Alhambra Palace, usually placed in the entrances to the various rooms within the Nasrid palace. This carving is to scale to the original size within the Alhambra. The Nasrid Shield is adorned with the famous phrase ولا غالب إلا الله "Wa la galiba ilallah" "There is no victor/conqueror except God" The use of the phase upon the Shield, emphasizing the importance of praising God most high upon the victory of Al-Andalus This Script is carved in the central focal point of the piece, surrounded by a intertwined vegetal background. The medium used for this sculpture is a combination of plaster and marble dust. The carving is sculpted and carved with beautiful intricacy and detail. The piece has been finished with an 'Alhambra Aged' colour effect with enhances and highlights the authenticity of this magnificent piece.
