The American Robin is a common bird but it's song is very distinct and varied. I would say it is my favorite bird, and I love watching the families play in the backyard bird bath.
If you have never experienced the Robin's song or to see their amazing ability to build nests here is an opportunity for you to get a sense of how interesting they are.
I make the feathers with; paper, fabric and thread, stainless steel pins hold them in place on the paper mache base. The fork feet hold up the structure, and make for an interesting character. Eyes are an important feature for birds but in my art I exaggerate the beak which seem to replace the need for eyes.
This sculpture is very durable and it's the Male parent of sculptures to follow.
