Appearance of Being No. 3 Sculpture

The light-absorbing richness of the walnut draws the eye into the inner depths of the piece. The wax adds a matte sheen to the surface of the form reflecting light off the outer boundaries. Here stands "Appearance of Being No. 3" in a quiet composure as it balances itself stucturally on three points of contact. Grounded in its framework, the form moves and dances, pulses and flowers in an endless flow. Without front, back, left or right, there is neither a start nor a finish. Eternal motion, infinite space, fleeting existence. Caught in theories, concepts, stories of the mind, Reality is far away and overwhelming yet near and simple. It is here, in the restful, timeless presence. Virtual particles come in and out of physicality In the flash that they are. The doorway to freedom, The timeless ocean of truth. The sculpture is made from two joined pieces, planed flat and laminated, sawn, carved and rasped to shape, smoothed and refined with sandpaper. It is for display at home, the office or in a special place, to construct a space of contemplative tranquility and dynamic energy.
